When I say backyard, I mean about 30 minutes away from the home of Oklahoma Native Jared Hess. He graduated in 2007 from UCO and now is going into MMA. He explained to the Norman Transcript that he didn't want to start the real world just yet, even if his degree would bring him $50,000-$60,000 a year. Jared is scheduled to fight in the Bellator Championship, consisting of three five-minute rounds for a time span of three months. If Jared wins all his fights, he could be seeing some serious cash.
I can see where Jared is coming from by staying competitive and wanting to always to win. It is the attitude of an athlete and that's what he is. I find it actually pretty cool that there are more and more natives from Oklahoma trying to make it in the sport of MMA....I don't know if I would ever do it, but it's cool to see other guys from your state. Also, if a grand prize of $175,000 is waiting to be fought for, I would consider that instead of a real world job miunute too. I can't say how the fight will turn out for the guy, because I have never seen him in action.
I think this article is a good one, because it attracts people to what is going on at the Lloyd Nobel Center and has a different type of story, instead of crime, weather issues, organization, and etc.
